Expecting a baby?

first off... congratulations! Having a new baby is one of the most exciting times of our lives. preparing the nursery, making sure you have all of the cutest baby clothes, and registry shopping. all of these things are so much fun. But those cute little newborn pictures are the absolute most exciting parts of those first few days of life. here are a few helpful tips to prepare.

  1. show off that bump. I always suggest at least a mini shoot for expecting moms. you may not need all of the images that a full session would include, but these are memories you will definitely want to remember and that one day that new baby would like to be able to see. plan to schedule this in your third trimester...when your bump is clearly visible, but not too close to your due date. i usually recommend around the 7 month mark.
  2. schedule your newborn session at the same time. i always suggest to do this at the same time, because the closer your due date is, the more likely your mind will be all over the place and we may have a harder time getting you on the schedule.
  3. after baby comes and it's finally session day, make sure your house is nice and warm for baby to be nice and sleepy. newborn sessions are one of the few times eyes being closed are a plus and the warmth will help with that.
  4. relax. let me do the work and take a moment to pamper yourself and just breathe.

FAQ

When should I book my maternity session?

Maternity sessions are best if scheduled around your 7th month of pregnancy. Try to make sure you book 1 month before that to make sure you get the time slot you need.

When should I book my newborn session?

Newborns are best photographed within the first 2 weeks of life. Babies are much easier to pose during this stage and tend to sleep a little more soundly. Also, a good way to avoid that baby acne that usually appears soon after. I usually recommend booking this at the same time of your maternity session. In case you decide to only schedule your newborn, I recommend scheduling at least 2 months prior to your due date.

Do you have a question?

Vix ut utinam feugait. Eu scribentur liberavisse nec. Dico fugit nostro cu pri, no putent nemore mel, ius at minim molestiae.

What if my baby arrives early or late?

I always save out a few dates the following week or week prior so there is plenty of flexibility to move your session date. Newborn sessions are "penciled in" verses "etched in stone" due to due dates being so unpredictable.

How long will my session take?

Newborn sessions can vary, but typically they can last anywhere from 1-3 hours depending on baby. If your baby has trouble falling or staying asleep, it could take a longer amount of time.

Are we allowed to be in the pictures with our baby?

Absolutely! Parents and siblings are encouraged to join in. This is a special time for all of you.

What do we need to do to prepare?

It really helps if your house is nice and warm. This will help baby sleep more soundly. Also, a baby with a full tummy will sleep better as well. I usually bring along everything we'll need for props and accessories, so you won't need to worry about that unless there is something special you'd like included in your photos.
